About Garrison Strand
My passion for mechanical design and engineering began at a young age sitting on the floor surrounded by LEGOS and continues to this day working on the development of high-performance combustion engines for UAVs. My most rewarding moments as an engineer have always followed the most humbling moments; I have learned that oftentimes the biggest engineering challenge is individual pride, not any physical, electromechanical phenomenon. Lasting change or progress is rarely enacted by individuals, and I strive to continue to become a person who puts the team first, though it is certainly a learning process. As a society we have tremendous potential to utilize our skills and knowledge to "turn the needle" in the right direction for humanity and Earth, and I would like to put my efforts toward this effort. I am excited to learn, to challenge my own views, and to struggle to create a society that is celebrated, not cursed by future generations.
