About Gary Buck

Whether providing assistance immediately after the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, or evacuating families from Japan after the tsunami, my work is a proud reflection of who I am. With almost 35 years of progressive experience in policy development, interpretation, and application for all areas of human resources, I advise leadership at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) level on classification and compensation within the federal appropriated and non-appropriated fund schedules. I also serve as the Department of Army Headquarters, Army-wide Joint Travel Regulations subject matter expert. My success is derived from a willingness to work hard on tough assignments, careful attention to detail, a comprehensive understanding of policies, and varied experience in applying and developing policy. My ability to collaborate and build consensus with senior leadership and peers in conducting human resource strategic planning has supported and furthered Department of Army missions. I am a consummate problem solver with the ability to stand up or streamline operations ensuring efficiency and effectiveness, but more importantly mission success.
