About Gary Daniel

For over 35 years, Gary has provided counsel regarding obtaining, enforcing and licensing trademarks and copyright in Canada. His practice also involves proceedings before the Trademarks Opposition Board and the Ontario and Federal Courts. He also counsels clients on trademark and copyright issues involved in corporate transactions and financings and has assisted clients with preventing the sale of counterfeit products in Canada and enforcing their trademark rights against unauthorized online resellers of their products. Always happy to talk sports and entertainment, Gary represents clients both within and outside Canada, including a major professional sports league, a motorsports organization, professional entertainers as well as talent agencies, a pharmaceutical company, a specialty chemicals company, retailers and consumer product companies, and interests in the gaming industry. Gary is a former Practice Group Leader of the Intellectual Property Group at his previous firm and a former Chair of the Canadian subcommittee of the International Trademark Association's Anti-counterfeiting and Emerging Issues committees. Gary writes widely on topics of Canadian trademark and copyright law and has testified in Court as an expert witness on Canadian trademark and licensing law. For almost 20 years, Gary has been recognized by the Law Society of Ontario as a Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property (Trademark and Copyright) law.
