Empowering, Inspiring, and Enabling their workforce are three of the most important things a CEO or senior manager can do. I get the greatest satisfaction from my work in helping them achieve that.It’s good for Employees, Management and the Organisation. I try to think like the CEO, solving problems and looking to outcomes delivery.I follow the ethos; Who helps another up, climbs higher themselves.One of the things I enjoyed at University, and still do when the opportunity arises, is discussing what exists at the edge of what we do and extending to cross-discipline impacts on what we do.At University, I would occasionally have lunch with the Dean of Business, a psychology professor. Among other things, we discussed Business Psychology.In his Lectures, he regularly said that communication is 80% of a CEO's, and manager’s role, or should be; but it was more like 20% in reality.Surveys of CEOs and senior managers revealed three things as their primary role; to empower, inspire, and enable their employees. The truth is, decision making takes up around 70% of their time.Something has to give and the economic theory of 'next best thing foregone' is applied.Not all decisions are created equal.Senior management can free up time for critical strategic decisions, expand and grow the business, goal setting & meeting targets, by delegating many of their decisions. Fully empowered employees make good decisions and resolve problems. To empower, inspire, and enable your employees to make knowledgable decisions, you must provide them with the information they need, where and when they need it in a useful form, and in real-time. It needs to be both relevant and actionable.This is where I come in.I provide visual communications systems to acquire, manage and display information & data in graphical and textual formats. Along with time/timing, news & weather, images and video. The Omnivex platform allows for creating business applications to bring together data from multiple sources or silos.My work has taken me to some great places and given me opportunities to work with some great people. It also led to me reigniting one of my passions; snow skiing. I worked on a Queenstown Airport (NZ) project, and there was nothing to do on one day while waiting for others to do their bit. There was snow on Coronet Peak, the Ski Hire shop was across the road, and I had a car. Since then I’ve skied in Australia, NZ, Canada, and Japan. Little beats being at the top of the mountain and the exhilaration when you point your skis downhill.A good project comes very close.
