Provides input for funding requirements and serves as the maintenance team's funds manager for funds from all sources. Annually manages a twenty to forty million dollar annual budget based on types of availabilities and repairs scheduled. Takes measures to prevent unauthorized modifications/alternations to his ship while in availability. Screens, reviews and approves work specifications and funding for all types of repairs and modernization projects. Determines the course of action necessary to accomplish assigned projects that are at risk of non-completion due to long lead time material, ships schedule and lack of available funds. Briefs top level management, including flag officers and SES personnel on all project matters including funding, risk management, planning milestones, production schedule and project progress. Processes Condition Found reports, Engineering Service Request, Funding Documents, Urgency Request, and all other local administrative requirements. Completes risk assessments and mitigations for critical and controlling work based on years of experience as a maintenance officer, project manager, EOOW and Engineering Warrant Officer. Conducts daily production meetings and weekly progress meetings with the ships commanding officer and entire maintenance team. Very involved in researching availability, ordering and tracking long lead time materials for scheduled availabilities and emergent work. Works with many outside organizations including IET's, ISEA's and OEM to provide support not available in the local ship repair market or specialized repairs requiring technical oversight. Provided comprehensive oversight of assigned projects by providing overall direction, implementation, coordination, execution monitoring and completion of projects consistent with commitment and goals. Provided long-range planning for technical and production support, determining what support is required and ensuring schedules are met.
