I have practiced nursing for 26 years; 24 years in the PeriOperative area, primarily PACU. In my new role, Assistant Nurse Manager, at Kaiser Permanente's, Redwood City Medical Center, I will provide leadership/management, overseeing the flow and efficiencies of the quality care in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit. I will help monitor the consistencies in our competencies through education, coaching, and demonstration; I am responsible for payroll and scheduling of staffs, helping with the placements of floating personnel as needed; I also provide service recovery and conflict resolution when appropriate; I attend and participate in daily, weekly, monthly meetings, providing data and information as related to our department; I will lead our staff(s) in huddles/staff meetings, providing opportunities for questions and answers which reduce concerns among staff/practice, leading to continual improvements in quality of care; I have responsibilities for maintaining our diverse equipment, keeping track of and assuring its good repair and/or replacement; I am enthusiastic about working across multi-areas/departments to facilitate the processes for opening the new Ambulatory Surgery Unit as we approach the tentative opening. I work to facilitate open communications between labor and management as appropriate; helping to facilitate transparency and accuracy. I am available to provide direct patient care as needed; I am involved in all aspects of hiring processes; development of creative solutions to work/flow situations. In the past I have managed a unit during computer software change; monitored education competencies and helped develop tools to continue education competencies; managed relations between internal departments; participated with upper management, providing reports and sharing with staff as directed. I am in a multi-role environment, where everyone has a variety of responsibilities, all leaning in towards the ultimate goal of providing safe, efficient, consistent care to our diverse populations. I have enjoyed the diversity in my leadership roles, management processes and desire continuation along this career path.
