Since 2008, Mr. Springer has been President and Trustee of World Partnerships, the official partner of the United States Department of State for professional programs & cultural activities for global emerging leaders under the Department’s “International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)” in Florida's eight-county Tampa Bay Region. Since its founding in World Partnerships has hosted in excess of 4,600 international visitors from 188 countries. Gary L. Springer is a specialist in global business, trade, economic development, regulatory, and public policy issues. He has held executive positions in the past with: SEI – International Economic Development Partners (President), the Gulf of Mexico States Partnership, Inc.(President), KPMG (Senior Director – International Trade & Customs Services), Fleishman-Hillard (Vice President – Latin America), Shearman & Sterling (Senior Advisor for Latin America), the Americas Society/Council of the Americas (Director of Programs), the Mexico-US Business Committee (Deputy Director), Business International Corporation (Associate Editor), and Enterprise Florida (Head of Mexico Office for the State of Florida). Mr. Springer was the first Secretary-General of the Gulf of Mexico States Accord, an international compact between the Mexican and US Gulf states, a position to which he was unanimously elected in He was appointed by the US Secretary of Transportation to a three-year term on the Maritime Transportation System National Advisory Council in 2006, representing the Gulf of Mexico region. In his 30+ year career as an executive in large professional services firms, as a private consultant and as a non-profit executive, he has advised governments and private corporations on trade and investment promotion, trade policy and negotiations, government affairs, business and trade strategies, strategic communications, image-building, market expansion, economic development strategies, and crisis management.
