About Gary Stuart

I left school aged 15 and began working with the local John Deere dealer at the time Alpha plus groundcare. I began the John Deere turf tech program at brooksby melton college along with attending training courses at John Deere. I am (as far as I am aware) the youngest person to have undergone and completed the turf tech program. Following completion of my apprenticeship the company lost the John Deere franchise. Following this I was approached from a local company GWT plant hire about a on site service engineer job. I must admit the change from Mainly working on John Deere groundcare products to be repairing and servicing anything from a push mower to a 20t digger was difficult but I feel it’s where I learned the most during my working career to date. I am really glad looking back I chose this option as I feel it’s benefitted me massively to improve my overall knowledge and experience of machinery as a whole and not just groundcare. I was then approached by fairways who are my local ransomes Jacobsen dealer. A few of my former colleagues had made the move there following the closure of alpha plus and felt it was a good move. I worked there for around 5 years finishing up as the main on site engineer and working closely with the service manager. Towards the end of my time there I felt I needed a change of some sort from what I had become used to. This led to me taking up the position of golf specialist with The Double A trading company Ltd. Sales is a far more difficult job than what u expected having previously worked from the service side. Knowing the machines inside out is a big advantage however negation skills time and getting deals across the line was all new to me and tougher than I gave it credit for. Since starting with Double A I’ve not taken on all sales in the north area along with being a figure head in my depot working closely with the parts and service departments on a daily basis. I look forward to progressing my career and in particular my management skills.
