About Gary Thorpe

A Geophysicist with 19 years experience in the oil and gas industry. I am focused on doing work that adds value, and answering the key questions in projects. I am always wanting to learn, as well as share my expertise. Currently working on offshore East Coast Canada Exploration for Equinor. Recent experience includes as G&G team lead on projects for new access such as farm-ins and landsales. Work on prospect volumetrics in GeoX, prospect reservoir and fluid prediction, and post-well analysis. Expertise in AVO, Rock Physics, Seismic Inversion, well to seismic ties and processing QC as well as prospect evaluation. I enjoy integrating work with colleagues from other disciplines, and am developing my project management and commercial skills to better impact the business. My work has contributed to decisions to access land and to drill exploration wells which were discoveries. Previously I worked in Norway for Statoil, firstly in an AVO specialist group and then in Carbonate Research working on Pre-Salt Brazil Exploration. Prior to that I worked in a variety of locations for Hampson Russell and my first post-graduate job was as a seismic processor for VeritasDGC.
