About Gaurav Dixit

Awarded by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in January 2021, I am an architect turned entrepreneur, specializing in hemp and sustainable architecture. Before my journey with IIT Roorkee, I resided in a remarkable hemp house atop a Himalayan mountain, fueling my passion for green building, design, travel, and connecting with people. My expertise lies in the realm of hemp and sustainable architecture, and I have made significant contributions to the field. Notably, I played a pivotal role in designing and executing India's first eco-friendly hemp homestay nestled in the breathtaking Himalayas. This project stands as a testament to my commitment to creating environmentally conscious spaces in harmony with nature. At the prestigious School of Planning & Architecture in New Delhi, I impart knowledge and expertise by teaching the course 'Building with Hemp,' empowering future architects and builders to create sustainable and regenerative structures. My contributions have garnered recognition globally. I was part of the winning team at the renowned Global Housing Technology Challenge 2021 and the Asian Hemp Summit 2020 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Moreover, I represented India at the International Hemp Building Symposium 2022 held in France, and have been part of the official Indian delegation of startups at Finland and Bangladesh, showcasing our nation's expertise and innovation in hemp construction. I am going to represent India at Expand North Star, Dubai in October 2024. Additionally, I am proud to have been part of the first hemp company in India to receive a government grant, emphasizing our dedication to pioneering sustainable practices. Furthermore, I was honored as a Birac Big grantee in 2022 and recognized as a finalist at the National Startup Awards in the same year. Beyond my professional endeavors, I find joy in leading treks, strumming my guitar, and expressing my creativity through sketching. Spending quality time with my family at the serene Himalayan Hemp Ecostay is a source of inspiration and rejuvenation for me. I am a graduate of Landmark Forum, and have completed Advance course, Communication curriculum, and am currently doing a one year long Team, Management and Leadership program conducted by Landmark Worldwide. My journey as an architect turned entrepreneur has been marked by purpose, innovation, and a commitment to building a greener future. With a focus on hemp and sustainable architecture, I continue to push boundaries, connect with like-minded individuals, and make a positive impact on our world. Gaurav
