About Gauri Shinde

After completing my engineering degree, I began my career as a Graduate Structural Engineer at a structural consultancy firm. I gained experience in designing and reviewing engineering documentation for multi-story residential and commercial buildings. Responsibilities - reviewing technical specifications and standards for projects - preparation of detailed analysis of Building frames - Detailed design of building components such as footings, columns, beams, slabs, staircase, etc- review and preparation of detailed engineering documentation including drawings, and reports - coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, and site engineers, which I found particularly rewarding. I developed a detailed Excel spreadsheet for the design and analysis of different structural elements, which contributed to the success of various projects. In my next role as an Estimator at a Civil, Structural, and Project Management consultancy firm, I gained hands-on experience in preparing cost estimates at various design stages. Responsibilities - calculating take-off and pricing- preparing bills of quantities for various projects- reviewing technical specifications of projects - Maintain direct and open interaction with Line Managers - raising technical queries This allowed me to further strengthen my technical understanding of civil construction work, design documentation, and technical specifications. My hard work and dedication led to a promotion to the role of Civil Engineer, where I continued to develop my technical skills and knowledge while gaining practical experience. Responsibilities - structural analysis and design of various buildings - issuing construction drawings- conducting site visits - Coordinated with Architects and other Service Consultants for structural integrity- With AutoCAD, relevant software, and empirical formulae, I conducted structural analysis, design, and drafting detailed reinforcement drawings for the projects Recently, I completed a Certificate IV course in Building and Construction through the Housing Industry Association (HIA) to become more familiar with Australian Codes and Building Standards. Currently, I am working on my career episode document to become a member of Engineers Australia (EA). and I am also working as an Instructor at Young Engineer Greater Metro Perth, contributing to the future of students interested in pursuing a career in STEM. I am now seeking to take up a new role where I can utilize my engineering knowledge and contribute to the success of projects in Australia.
