About Gavan McNally

I am a Professor in the School of Psychology, University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia where I lead the Behavioural Neuroscience Research Group. Our group comprises Senior Research Fellows, Research Fellows, PhD students and undergraduate researchers. Our focus is on discovering fundamental mechanisms of learning, memory, and motivation and applying this knowledge to advance the treatment of anxiety, depression, and addiction. We have ongoing, active research collaborations with colleagues across Australia and internationally. We are supported by the Australian Research Council (Discovery Scheme) and the National Heath and Medical Research Council (Ideas Scheme, Synergy Scheme). I hold Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences Australia, The Association for Psychological Science, and the American Psychological Association. I am a former ARC QEII Fellow and Future Fellow. I am Editor-in-Chief of Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, Senior Editor of The Journal of Neuroscience, and Editorial Board Member of Behavioral Neuroscience, Addiction Neuroscience, Behavioral Pharmacology, among others.
