About Gavin Cassar

Gavin Cassar is a senior academic executive currently serving as Dean of Finance and Administration at INSEAD and Professor of Accounting and Control. He leads INSEAD’s core administrative functions, including Finance (accounting, treasury, taxation, cash management, and reporting), Financial Planning & Analysis (with responsibility for managing and controlling INSEAD’s operating and capital budgets), as well as the Legal, Procurement, Audit, Risk, and Compliance functions across the school. Gavin also leads the Business Transformation Office, which drives impactful, cross-functional initiatives to enhance INSEAD’s performance and effectiveness. In addition, he oversees campus operations and development across INSEAD’s four global locations, including the European Campus Reimagination—a major redevelopment of the Fontainebleau campus. Professor Cassar has lived and worked in Australia, USA, France, and Singapore. His research is centered on how entrepreneurs and managers use budgets and financial information for their decision making needs and contracting with investors, and has published in leading business academic journals across accounting, finance, strategy, and entrepreneurship. Professor Cassar teaches corporate governance and management control, financial acumen and strategic decision making, and performance measurement and evaluation concepts to numerous organisations.
