I am a solicitor practising in the field of charity law, advising Scottish charities and both UK and non-UK cross-border charities with operations in Scotland. Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Charity Law. I am a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Charity Law Reform Committee. Additionally, I am a member of the Standing Tax Committee and of the Executive Committee of the Charity Law Association (UK) I am co-author of Tolley's Charities Manual and author of the Scottish chapter of the Global Guide to Charity Law. I am also the author of the chapter on investments and co-author of the chapter on cross-border issues of A Practical Guide to Charity Law in Scotland (W Green). I am a trustee of a number of charities: I am currently a trustee of the Edinburgh International Festival Endowment Fund and a trustee of Old S Paul’s Episcopal Church. I also serve on the board of The Dean Cemetery Trust Ltd. I am chair of the J S Innes Charitable Trust. Within the Scottish Episcopal Church, I serve as Legal Assessor to General Synod and as Lay Clerk and Registrar of the Episcopal Synod (College of Bishops).
