About Gavin Thomas

Gavin is a Managing Director and has been part of EY’s Strategy and Transactions practice for 8 years, starting in Sydney, Australia, before joining the New York practice in 2020. Prior to EY, Gavin led the FP & A team for a regulated energy business where he was responsible for management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and developing annual strategy and regulatory plans. Gavin specializes in financial due diligence for Private Equity and Corporate clients, and while focused primarily on transactions in Digital Infrastructure and Transportation, he also has broad experience across other industries including manufacturing and business services. He advises clients on both buy and sell side transactions, leads financial diligence efforts, and oversees other diligence workstreams related to the overall engagement. Gavin has been involved in a number of large scale, complex transactions, including top tier businesses with significant international operations, multiple operating entities, and carveouts of global operations requiring robust assessment of standalone costs. Gavin helps clients understand the underlying earnings, cash flow drivers, and key valuation considerations of transactions they are contemplating. His experience includes assisting clients in negotiating purchase and sale agreements, and the structure of closing purchase price adjustment mechanisms and associated definitions.
