Background

About Gavin Wiyanto

Born in Jakarta in 1995. Wiyanto studied composition at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Austria under the guidance of Prof. Martin Lichtfuss and continued his master's studies in applied music and media concentration under Prof. Reinhard Karger and Prof. Judit Varga. During his studies, he has won two competitions at once, such as the Wiener Filmmusik 2020 Competition as a finalist and Soundlogo for ISA der MdW 2020 as the winner of 1st place. Upon his return to Indonesia, Wiyanto was also selected as one of 3 winners in the 5th Young Indonesian Composers Competition by the Bandung Philharmonic in May 2022. His works have also been performed by various other orchestras, such as the Parahyangan Orchestra, Unpar Choir, Bandung Philharmonic, Jakarta Sinfonietta and Orkest de Ereprijs in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Currently, Wiyanto teaches at the Sekolah Kristen Calvin Jakarta (SKC) as an ensemble teacher for junior and senior high schools. In addition to teaching, he also performed SKC-Concertino for SKC Youth Ensemble and piano duet to commemorate SKC's 15th anniversary and the inauguration of the new building by Rev. Dr.(H.C). Stephen Tong, and became the music director of Rumah Teater Calvin for the musical drama Jejak Harapan under the director Venantius Vladimir Ivan Pratama. In addition, he is also involved in other projects, such as song arrangements for the TRUST Symphony Orchestra and making background music for Aniwayang Desa Timun Season 2.
