About Ged Tyrrell

Having always been interested in making things and fixing things I always wanted to be an engineer. Did a controls apprenticeship at Trend, which was great and learnt a lot from my peers there and was given enough slack to be creative in problem solving, as well as making a few mistakes (to learn from!). Went on to a systems integrator (E2) where I did a few big integration roll outs and got involved with a few big shopping centres in the days of Windows 3.1 and 486 computing :) Saw Building Systems Integration as the next progression in the way we interact, control and monitor our buildings so started Tyrrell Systems Ltd in 1998 with that vision in mind and I think I got that judgment about right. More connected pieces of more intelligent kit in buildings than ever and the skill of connecting things is overtaking the skill of making them work since more and more kit comes pre-packaged with intelligence on-board. Started to enjoy the business aspect more and more and leadership in particular and learnt a lot from people like Michelle Guest and other coaches and books. Wanted to see if I could use business in a biblical way; not charity, to help with the plight of coffee farmers who were getting a poor price for their crops so started tankcoffee.com in 2008 with some good friends. Together we built a roasting facility and roast the finest coffee for posting through the door to consumers and to sell at Delis and through Cafe's too. Tyrrell Products is where all the best software and hardware we developed in the engineering business (Tyrrell Systems) is packaged up and made available for other engineering companies to use throughout the world. We have a great team of developers and we have some innovative products, which are tried and tested; designed to do the job. I like people and like to share knowledge and experience and always strive to make the world a better place as a bi-product of whatever we do. We formed TBT Group in 2019 to accept the acquisition of Simaxx BV, a software analytics, FDD and compliance reporting platform. Now Tyrrell Analaytics is the latest essential compliment to the group, taking the data and connectivity from Tyrrell all IoT and smart building products and making the most of the data to bring benefit to business, optimise building systems, save money and improve wellbeing.
