About Gelo Agduma
Apart from teaching Biology (Botany), I also do research on Plant Stress Physiology, Plant-microbe Interaction and Biodiversity. I have worked on the desiccation-tolerance mechanism of the resurrection fern ally Selaginella tamariscina probing its morphological and biochemical mechanisms to alleviate desiccation stress. In the future, I want to study more and in-detail the array of tolerance mechanisms of this plant towards dehydration and exploit these mechanisms to design a rather desiccation-sensitive staple crop to help the world minimize hunger as one of the major impacts of climate change. I want also to extend my researches on other factors that affect plant's growth, development and productivity or it's survival as a whole.
