About Gemma Bunner

I assist regionally based clients navigate the legal process following a serious injury and provide guidance, support and a way forward. I am a Principal Lawyer and co founder of a boutique personal injuries law firm, Shaw & Bunner Legal. With offices based in the Hunter Valley and Gunnedah, I represent injured clients throughout New South Wales. I have spent the past 17 years practicing primarily in the area of personal injury and compensation law and obtained my Specialist Accreditation in Personal Injury Law in New South Wales in 2012. Prior to founding my own legal practice in 2018, I spent over a decade working for a national personal injuries law firm in both their Sydney and Newcastle offices. I have worked across a wide range of practice areas in personal injury, including workers compensation & negligence claims, motor vehicle accidents, medical negligence and public liability claims; and am experienced in superannuation insurance and TPD claims. Over the past decade I have developed a specific expertise in coal mining compensation claims, including statutory claims, common law claims and proceedings arising from mining fatalities. I have a solid understanding of the industry and the unique rights available to coal miners with respect to compensation however also in regards to industrial entitlements and superannuation.
