About Gemma Haigh

I have always been interested in the art of film from a young age and after studying the subject at both A Level and degree level my passion only intensified. My expertise lie in film theory and film criticism. I have an MA by Research in film studies from the University of Birmingham. My research is concerned with how the contemporary Spanish horror film utilises the child to investigate and come to terms with Spain’s not so distant traumatic past. I currently hold the position of Lecturer in Media and Design at Wakefield College, teaching Media across Level's 3, 4 & 5. In addition to my teaching duties, I am also the programme leader for Media provision from Level 3 to 5. Published author in the Bulletin of Spanish Visual Studies I am a freelance photographer/videographer in my spare time. Check out my work via the link in my bio. Please send any enquiries to gemmasymonephoto@gmail.com or private message on Instagram.
