About Gemma Jones

After a career break I am now coming back to UX Design and Development bringing a wide array of UX skills enhanced by all of my other pursued passions while away from the field. Before becoming a UX Designer I was a Front End Developer for many years, this means I have teachnical experience and understanding of the entire creation process - from gathering requirements from clients, to user research and testing, mockups (paper and digital), design and asset creation in Photoshop and final product creation. While I've been away from the profession I have been responsible for home educating my daughter. This gave me a whole range of skills that has enhanced my ability to work in the field - from budgeting, scheduling, research into a wide variety of topics and putting together materials for print, event organising, conflict resolution and negotiating skills. I know how to juggle a complex workload. As well as home educating, I am a self-taught artist painting in watercolours, acrylics, oils and digital. This has helped to deepen my understanding of style, composition, colour theroy and story telling. I am deeply passionate about understanding why people do the things they do, and how we can enhance and direct user behavour through subtle changes in interaction and design.
