About Gemma King

My work focuses on the U.S. and Australia’s geopolitical and economic relationships in the Indo-Pacific, especially in East and Southeast Asia. My interests include US-Australia Alliance, the Australia-Japan relationship, emerging economies in Southeast Asia, and the Quad. I'm a current M.A Candidate in Asian Studies at Georgetown University. My analysis has been published in various outlets including Nikkei Asia, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, The Australian Outlook, The Strategist, and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan Up Close. I was an Indo-Pacific Fellow for Young Australians in International Affairs, and was selected as a delegate a US Department of State Exchange for Rising Think Tank Leaders from Quad Countries. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations & Indonesian Studies from the University of Western Australia. I'm proficient in Indonesian and previously undertook student exchange in Indonesia, where I taught English at schools and orphanages in Bali and Java.
