About Gemma McAuley

Since graduating in 2022 I have worked for Aviva Insurance, investigating and managing motor bodily injury claims across both England and Scotland, predominantly for commercial clients. Although I have found the work to be relevant, affording the opportunity to apply legal knowledge, hone negotiating skills, master the art of managing large caseloads, and to work with various interdepartmental colleagues and stakeholders, the time has nonetheless come to move on to pastures new. After thorough investigation and consideration, I have firmly settled on a career in Health & Safety Management, given its dynamic and ever-evolving nature, inextricable link to the law, people-centric nature, and the scope within the profession for growth and development. To this end I have recently sat my NEBOSH N1 certificate, and eagerly await the result.Aside from the professional and academic qualifications, my current role serves to demonstrate some of the core skills required, i.e, data collation and analysis, policy review, contract interpretation and application, and so forth. The correlative skills are endless!Where I do lack paid hands on health and safety experience, in my role as Health and Safety rep at Aviva, I am accustomed to health and safety management systems, forum meetings, policy review, innovative thinking, collaboration and ongoing reporting. I greatly look forward to joining a business where I can bring the aforementioned skills and experience to the beginning of my professional journey in the field, within a diverse team of like-minded people.
