About Gemma Webb

I am hugely interested in mental health and am looking to pursue a career in the field of mental healthcare and clinical work. Whilst completing my Psychology degree, I showed enthusiasm towards Clinical and Health Psychology modules and specialized in complex data analysis and research methods. From these modules I gained extensive knowledge of qualitative methods of analysis, including thematic analysis. I also gained knowledge of how to build and disperse questionnaires using Qualtrics and how to conduct various statistical tests on quantitative data such as Chi Squared tests, T-tests, MANOVA's and ANOVA'S using statistical software such as SPSS which I later reflected in my final year dissertation. Furthermore, I learned how to eye up large data sets and make efficient and effective conclusions. These modules also helped perfect my written communication skills through reporting and discussing results clearly. Through additional research experience, I have an awareness of the importance of participant confidentiality as well as knowledge of several recruitment methods. Upon completing my degree, I have focused on gaining clinical experience that would allow me to facilitate communication with a wide variety of vulnerable individuals, varying in age, battling various and unique mental difficulties to gain and develop relevant skills and to build professional networks allowing me to embark on the field of mental health. Through Age UK Befriending, Volunteering with Me2 Club, OCD Action Helpline Support and Volunteering as a Champion with PAPYRUS I hope to achieve this. My work experience and current position has allowed me to work under high pressure. Through an induction training opportunity with Circles, which is an organization that supports the rehabilitation of sex offenders as well as their reintegration back into the community, I have developed knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques and the importance of being emotionally resilient, non-judgmental and respectful. I am willing to learn and aim to complete tasks to the best of my ability. I am highly motivated and enthusiastic to take on personal development and training opportunities to improve my portfolio. I am hard working, have strong initiative and a genuine passion for helping others and making a difference. I am friendly, compassionate, caring and committed. I am a car driver.
