About Gene Rinaldi

Certified by the Illinois drug abuse councilors certification board where he spent 10 years as a founding member and president. Where he was also influential in developing, with the Iowa Testing Company, a national certification test for substance abuse counselors. He is also a Certified Alcohol and Alcoholism Counselor and Certified Family and Couple Therapist. After graduating from Northeastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Psychology and Music and an internship at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center opened his private practice as a family therapist and family therapist trainer. While developing his private practice and training faculty he spent the next 24 years designing, acquiring funding for, developing and administering a nationally acclaimed outpatient adolescent substance abuse treatment programs that on any given week was treating patients in what was at that time newly developed and innovative therapeutic practices. In 1998 left clinical practice to open a national consulting firm whose main function was in the area of policy analysis and program development. The agencies primary clients were the National Institute of Health and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. During this time began and completed work on his Maters in Adult and Continuing Education from National Louis University. In 2003 after completing a Doctoral program in Adult and Continuing Education from National Louis University sold his interest in the firm to begin a new career in education at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. After almost 10 years of experience as a professor of Psychology and the Humanities is pleased to join the faculty of the Tinley Park Campus of The Art Institute of Illinois in the hopes of educating, enlightening and inspiring inquiring students.
