About Genoa Johnson

Genoa Johnson is a communications professional on the Sponsored-Directed Communications team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). She supports the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) as the digital specialist. In this role, Genoa is the EMSL webmaster, managing the external and internal EMSL websites. She is the social media manager for all of EMSL's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and X. She also is a writer, who previously supported the renewables portfolio (hydropower, marine energy, geothermal energy, and solar energy) for PNNL's Energy and Environment Directorate, and regularly contributes articles to the EMSL website. Graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in journalism, Genoa began her career covering government and breaking news at a daily newspaper in Washington state. She has been recognized with two C.B. Blethen awards for her investigative journalism on domestic violence, methamphetamine, and children in foster care.
