About Gentry Cork

I am a research embryologist for the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM) who has conducted independent research on oxidative stress in human primary granulosa cells, translational studies on growth factor/ antioxidant bovine IVM supplementation, and evaluation of parthogenic activation methods in mice oocytes. I received training as a research biochemist/ molecular biologist via the acquisition of my two bachelors degrees (B.S. in Biochemistry and B.S. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) from Washburn University (Topeka, KS) and a M.S. in Biochemistry from Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO). At the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), I studied the Hexosamine Biosynthetic Pathway and O-GlcNAc modulation of Extracellularly Regulated Kinase (ERK) signaling in mammalian cell lines. Other previous professional experience includes tutoring, student teaching, and lab technician work at the Kansas Health and Environment Labs. During the span of my undergraduate and graduate education, I have gained experience in a diverse range of research topics spanning from virology to nutrient signaling pathways to archaeal DNA repair. In the course of my educational and work career, I have become proficient in mammalian cell culture, common microbiology techniques, archaeal cell culture (including experience acquired in the use of anaerobic chambers), mouse husbandry, and conventional laboratory skills such as western blotting, PCR analysis, nucleic acid extraction, etc. I have also presented posters at the 2019 Experimental Biology conference, the 2016 American Society of Cell Biology meeting, the 2023 and 2024 Rocky Mountain Reproductive Symposium, and the 2023 American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) meeting. I have also been selected for an Oral presentation for the 2024 ASRM meeting.
