About Geoff Beamer

My fascination with computers started with video games in the 80’s with an Atari 2600 and very shortly after a Commodore 64 with a tape drive. I spent hours programming in Basic and playing Miner2049’er. That fascination grew during my four years at the University of Waterloo. With access to so many courses and other ‘geeks’ it wasn’t long before I was setting up Doom in a network for weekend long tournaments. I knew then I would be working with computes for the rest of my life. Over twenty years of my professional career has been with IBM and Kyndryl beginning as an IT Architect which has allowed me to work with over a hundred companies covering everything from Financial and Energy to Healthcare and Government customers. Working in every sector on everything from Data Center moves and single application refactoring to $1B managed services customers has given me a wealth of knowledge and the opportunity to discuss strategy with many C level executives. My role has evolved with the industry from a focus on platform migrations, managed services, and IT optimization to Cloud adoption. Working with all the Hyperscalers has given me a deep knowledge of their capabilities and the intricacies of operating in a multi cloud environment. Over the next 5 years there will be a focus on moving enterprise core applications to the cloud with all the Hypervisors racing to become the next leader. My experiences position me to help lead those transformations and I look forward to the challenge.
