About Geoff Guenther

It's been an adventure - building TutorBright from the ground up, and watching a company that was once housed in one tiny office grow into Canada's premier one-to-one tutoring service. In the world of business development and start ups, you end up doing it all, and over my 10 year tenure at TutorBright I've managed our sales and onboarding team, streamlined communication-focused processes, built lasting relationships with organizations like The Ronald McDonald House, tutored students, and designed curriculum. Most of all, I've spent quality time listening to hundreds of parents' and students' challenges and, with our team here, worked to overcome them. There's still nothing more powerful than hearing about a student who is feeling more confident and who has achieved their academic goals, and watching them go confidently into their own future endeavours and adventures. The marriage of business development and education in my work life at TutorBright started after a few misadventures following my graduation from Teacher's College in 2008. I made the hasty decision to move to Victoria, BC, from Toronto, by bicycle, and subsequently set out to South Korea to work in an English language school - teaching a group of little ones the ins and outs of the English language, and immersing myself in an amazing city, culture and people. I'm currently a little more glued to the city of Toronto with my partner, where we love spending time with our two young children - teaching them to be caring, curious and critical, and (hopefully) fostering their independence. And with the pancake-thin moments of free time left over, you can find me huddled over a chessboard studying the next opening (or blundering a piece!), searching for new tarp configurations or knots while backcountry camping, or wrenching on a vintage steel bike in my basement.
