About Geoff Knapp
I started CAM Commerce in 1983 (and the X-Charge division in took it public in 1987 (tiny NASDAQ offering) and sold it to a private equity firm (Great Hill Partners in Boston) in August of 2008. I was thus the CEO and Chairman of a public company for more than 20 years. At the time we sold the company was extremely profitable and growing rapidly. We had been paying rapidly increasing dividends for the prior few years and had a very loyal shareholder base. The new owners subsequently sold the systems part of the business and renamed the payments piece Accelerated Payment Technologies. This was later sold to Global Payments. I have been engaged in investing and related activities since late 2008 and that continues to be my focus, along with having fun! Always looking for new projects.
