About Geoffrey Bender

Over the past twelve years I have served in the United States Air Force. From 2011-2016 I was enlisted in the Air Force in the Contracting Career Field stationed in Texas, Guam, and then South Carolina. I worked as a Contracting Specialist in the Commodities, Services, as well as Construction sections during my enlisted career as well as a Commodities Contracting Officer. I held a warrant for $50K (non-contingency) from 2012 to 2013 as well as a SAT ($1M at the time) contingency warrant when I deployed to Qatar as a Commodities Contracting Officer in 2015. As an Air Force Officer in the Contracting Career Field, I was stationed in Japan from 2016-2018 as the Acquisitions Flight Commander enabling a 166 contract/$37.5M portfolio and have deployed once as the Services Flight Commander in the United Arab Emirates, managing a 37 Contract/$55M portfolio. I also held a $4.9M contingency/non-contingency warrant. I was stationed at the Det 6 (see link) as the Quality Control Team Lead. I was a warranted Administrative Contracting Officer for the $500M+ contract covering multiple countries. My main responsibility is ensuring the Contractor's complicity to the contract as well as ensuring proper communications between the 24 Functional Area Managers (customer), the 11 Contracting Officer Representatives, and the Contractor. I attended Naval Postgraduate School as a student working on an MBA in Contract Management with a focus on Strategic Sourcing and Category Management. The AF Contracting Field normally selects 10-15 individuals annually to attend this program. I went to the 772 Enterprise Sourcing Squadron at JBSA Lackland AFB, TX as the Deputy Flight Chief for Fuels over 35 civilians, supporting AFCEC and DLA's worldwide fuels infrastructure maintenance program. Currently I am serving as the Director of Operations for 765 Lajes AB squadron and COCO of the Lajes Contracting Flight working with our Portuguese NATO allies.
