About Geoffrey Slate

Initial career focus was high end food service. Fun fact: I'm a classically trained Chef. The historically low margins and high intensity environment of restaurants, catering companies and hotels is where I developed effective resource management and team leadership skills. Sourcing and managing high value, highly perishable inventories within very tight time and fiscal parameters became the fascination that led me to a broader focus on the processes and principles involved in efficient Procurement and Inventory management. Hiring and developing highly effective teams which could withstand the pace and pressure of competing at a nationally recognized level grew as a second foundational competency. My time leading kitchens and establishments provided a solid financial management skillset. P&L responsibilities ranging from granular expense analysis to crafting formal business plans for Federal Community Block Development Grants and Investors have given me a high altitude view how companies work. Layering those experiences into other industries has been a rewarding phase of my career. I get a great deal of satisfaction when everything is "complete, on time and correct" for my production team to operate at its most efficient and create best in class end product.
