My job involves tech, people, foresight, and a good dose of ambiguity and uncertainty. I am a problem solver, engineer, and visionary who thrives in the intersection of technology, people, and innovation. With a passion for tackling complex challenges, I view them as puzzles waiting to be solved. I find immense satisfaction in transforming ambiguity and uncertainty into tangible solutions that have a positive impact on both our society and the planet we call home. Getting to the nitty gritty I identify, test, and scale-up technologies that truly matter. I do this by partnering with world leading minds to not only solve key challenges, but also create profitable businesses. I studied Chemical Engineering in Germany, where I grew up, and have a PhD from Massey University in New Zealand, the country I fell in love with when travelling and milking cows. It is this time that shaped me most and taught me the value of hard work and resilience; I learned what it means to start from scratch, which ignited my determination to overcome challenges and flourish in new environments. Throughout my career, I have led various research projects in both academia and industry, which sparked my passion for breakthrough innovation and the commercialization of scientific advancements. I've come to realize that technology development and integration are just as crucial as the scientific process itself. I strive to bridge the gap between technology and practical application, ensuring solutions are both commercially viable and environmentally relevant. Beyond work, I cherish every moment I spend with my family—my wife and our delightful toddler. Parenthood has awakened me to the preciousness of life and reinforced my commitment to creating a better tomorrow. I strongly believe in equipping the next generation with the skills they need to succeed and leaving behind a pristine planet teeming with biodiversity and natural beauty. Harmony between our environment and society is at the core of my beliefs, and I strive to embody this philosophy daily. My goal for the future is to continue leveraging my skills to commercialize sustainable solutions that improve the well-being of people and animals. Perhaps one day, I will even lead my own start-up in this space.
