I find it funny to think that my earliest career aspiration was to be a marine biologist. After a dip in the winter sea off the Essex coast, these dreams faded. As I grew older, I relished any opportunity to scheme a business idea and often roped my friends into joining me. Selling seashells on the beach to fellow hotel guests, breaking school rules to become a sweets and video games kingpin, and importing designer clothing from age 15 all played a role in my formative career path. My time at St Andrews University gave me the chance to further develop this entrepreneurial spirit; I ran both a Japanese designer clothing import and an events business, whilst helping organise large charity events for the students. From a young age I became engaged in the world of crypto and early-stage business ideation, which began as a hobby but became a career path when I started working at Hoptrail, a blockchain analytics startup. I focused on running due diligence on crypto entities and events. We built risk & compliance indexes amongst other analytical products to help institutions/individuals engage with the often complex and mysterious industry. Later I joined the The Bell Partnership, a London-based private investment and advisory group focusing on early-stage venture, real estate, and digital assets. I provided business development advice for companies embracing Web3 as they looked to utilise faster and more efficient business practices with decentralised infrastructure. The BP group operates an active Angel investment programme alongside a strategic advisory arm, assisting early-stage businesses with both capital and strategic advice. Most recently, I've launched The Players Fund - which we brought out of stealth in Sep 23 - as a founding member working as Principal of the fund and head of tech stack. We have been immensely lucky to launch the project alongside a number of elite international athletes to invest in and support early-stage businesses whilst democratising access to venture for both sportsmen and women.
