About George Chase

I have moved into an IT Analyst role in Alberta Health Services and am supporting very large virtualization setups (50K+ concurrent connections) using VMWare, Xen Server, and Citrix. Previously, as a Senior Technology Analyst at Aurora College, I applied my 20+ years of networking and IT experience and knowledge to support the college's IT infrastructure and systems, as well as the IT needs of the staff and students. I have a Diploma in Computer Software Engineering from SAIT, and a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Calgary, which enable me to combine technical skills with teaching abilities and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-IT people. I have worked as both front-line technical support and supervisor of technical teams, managing, maintaining, and growing various networks and systems, including Windows, UNIX, Linux, VoIP, OS and Network Security, and database administration (Oracle, MySQL, Python). I have also developed and taught numerous IT courses at SAIT, sharing my expertise and passion for learning with others. I believe that network administration is a team sport, and that a well-organized, motivated, and led team can achieve better results than a poorly organized team, no matter the skill level. I value collaboration, organization, and documentation in IT work, and I strive to empower and enable my team and my clients to succeed.
