About George Davis

In my career, I have been driven by a passion for advocacy and education. Previously, I served as a junior high and high school educator specializing in the dynamic realms of hip-hop history, art criticism, Japanese culture, manga, and social and anthropological studies. My dedication to fostering understanding and engagement led me to the vibrant halls of the Schomburg Center in Harlem. At the Schomburg Center, I taught museum education and explored the captivating intersection of comic book art and historical fiction. However, my journey took an unexpected turn when I experienced a stroke, resulting in challenges with my left arm and leg. Nonetheless, I remain steadfast in my belief that every experience holds value.Beyond my work at the Schomburg Center, I have served as a teacher, coach, and mentor, with extensive affiliations and partnerships with many community-based organizations in NYC and globally. My commitment to improving lives and promoting inclusivity and intersectionality has been a driving force throughout my career.I am now focused on advancing my role as a professional teaching artist and advocate for student accessibility. I look forward to contributing my experience and passion to initiatives that promote empowerment and inclusivity in education.
