Hello all and welcome to my profile! I am a 42 year old Child and Youth Practitioner who has been working in the CYCW field for almost 15 years. I have experience working in houseless shelters with youth and adults, group homes with youth and adults with mental health challenges and disabilities, treatment facilities, and program development. I have spent the majority of this time either working the floor, or in leadership roles to help shape great minds, and help encourage young leaders. I grew up as a young person in care. I was apprehended when I was five years old due to physical child abuse and neglect. I spent 14 years in ‘The System’ and went through approximately 60 moves. I know what it feels like to sleep on the street, ask people for spare change, and stand in the line at the food bank. I now spend my days in leadership roles, shaping great minds and inspiring others.
