About George Pu
I first started programming when I was 13. My first program was making “Hello World” show up in a browser. Since then, I have been hooked on programming. There is just so much satisfaction in solving human problems through software. I love to design performant, scalable systems and then implement them in concise, clear code. Along the way, I have learned several languages (Java, Python, MATLAB, C++, JavaScript) and technologies (PyTorch, NodeJS, Spring). After taking multiple programming classes in high school, I decided to get a degree in Computer Science from the University of Florida. My career took a great leap forward when I recently interned over the summer at Amazon. There I got the opportunity to work with an amazing team on a project integrating some of their backend data with a frontend website. Outside of software, I enjoy learning mathematics and trying new kinds of food, especially desserts. I have hiked at 3 National Parks and many more State Parks. I partake in these pursuits for the same reason I engineer software: the beauty of an elegant solution and the thrill of a challenge.
