About George Sandu

Currently, I work as EU Cultural Projects Administrative Assistant at the Central Directorate for Culture and Sport – Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, where I provide administrative and operational support for European cultural initiatives. In this role, I help coordinate cross‑border projects, liaise with partners and stakeholders, and contribute to the implementation of EU programs aimed at fostering culture, innovation, and sustainable development in the region. Previously, I was a trainee at the Brussels Liaison Office of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region, where I supported institutional activities and events at the European Parliament, the European Commission, and other EU bodies such as the CoR and EESC. I contributed to research on EU cohesion policies, interregional cooperation, and international relations, prepared internal briefings and newsletters, and assisted in organizing high‑level cultural and institutional events. Before that, I completed an internship at the Regional Anti-Mafia Observatory, conducting legal research and drafting a study on the phenomenon of usury at the regional level. My academic background includes a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Cooperation (110/110 e lode) and a Bachelor’s Degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences, both from the University of Trieste. My studies focused on European integration, security studies, and the challenges of federalism in the Western Balkans, with particular attention to Bosnia and Herzegovina. I speak Italian and Romanian (native), English and French (C1), and Slovenian (A1), enabling me to work effectively in multicultural and international environments.
