About George Young

I am a University of York graduate who has just recently completed an MA in Public History. I am passionate in trying to find ways to make the past more engaging to public audiences through interactive media and drama and understand how they are influenced by media portrayals when perceiving the legacies of national events and figures, particularly regarding royal individuals across England, Scotland, France, Russia, Spain, and the Ottoman Empire. I have autism and cerebral palsy. These conditions have helped influence my passion in studying portrayals of disability and the continuing influence of socio-historical, medical and cultural perceptions of disability within the heritage sector. I love to discuss and debate my interests with many audiences. I have attended many historical re-enactments and academic conferences. I also have a YouTube channel full of tribute videos to historical events during the Wars of the Roses, as well as literary tributes - having taught myself about post-production on iMovie when I was 14 years old and have carried on with Final Cut Pro X since I was 17.I desire to use my skills to make the past engaging for audiences today and inspire new ways of thinking about how our pasts influence our present and future.
