Georgette Lumbe is an Accessibility Specialist, QA Automation Engineer, ISTQB and DHS Trusted Tester certified, public speaker, and ambassador for Women in tech. Very passionate about inspiring the next generation of women into engineering and helping women in tech to build their confidence, use their voice, and be seen. Since less than 25% of STEM jobs in Ireland are filled by women, one of her aims is to help women in tech take up space within the industry to land more opportunities and increase their earning potential. She is invited to various events, including Women in Tech and Explore Engineering events, Alumni Webinars, and Radio Interviews to share her journey and give tips to inspire and motivate those who are still hesitant or doubtful. Having a professional background exposure in Office Administration, Communication, Marketing, and Customer service skills, Georgette has been fascinated and changed her pathway to Engineering during the pandemic. As a curious, fast learner, positive, self-motivated, resourceful, and passionate person, she didn't have much trouble changing careers and dealing with impostor syndrome, which sometimes seemed to persist. She completed her Full-stack Engineering Diploma with Code Institute in collaboration with Further Education LCETB during 2021 - 2022. She had really good learning moments, and she faced major challenges as she embarked on her exciting future career in engineering. Presently working as a Full-time QA Automation Engineer at Transact Campus Inc, a leading provider of payment solutions for higher education, where she has learned a lot and consolidated her love and passion for engineering. She works in the Mobile Development Team and on several exciting features like App Clip, in-app-provisioning on iOS and Android (Google & Samsung), Accessibility, and much more. She discovered a passion for accessibility, seeing how many people are affected, neglected, misunderstood, and sidelined because of their disability. She ensures the quality and accessibility of software solutions that empower higher education institutions and students. She decided to prioritize accessibility and inclusion in all aspects of our lives to create a more equitable and accessible world for everyone.
