About Geraint Protheroe

No one ever sets out to work in Insurance but once you’re in insurance you are in for life. My plan leaving school was to join the RAF but as they say as man plans and gods laugh as I was looking to join the RAF Regiment there may be some people who feel I had a lucky escape. At the age of 16 it was apparent that academia was not for me, so I started work on what was then called the Youth Training Scheme, I was very fortunate to have found an organisation that went on to nurture me and to also found me employment at an Insurance Broker. I took to broker life like a duck to water learning about the fundamentals of insurance, the importance of providing customers with the correct level of cover and making sure the customers are fully protected. As an account Executive I quickly progressed and obtained my Lloyds binding authority. This left a lasting impression on me and have always loved the majesty and legacy that Lloyds of London conjures up (probably why I now love working for a IQUW who look after 2 Lloyds syndicates). As time progressed, I negotiated with our insurance suppliers and created a commercial insurance arm. Technology has always been a love of mine and when I had an opportunity to work for an Internet Service Provider, I felt I had to take it. At the time it felt like I was working on the future as more and more people connected to the internet and whilst I enjoyed my time helping people internet and watching the birth of the broadband revolution Insurance called me back. I started working on a motor claims team at what was then Equity Red Star and what is now called ERS and have never looked back. Over the last 20 years I have dealt with all aspects of motor claims form first notification to personal injury. I have gained expert knowledge of liability and indemnity. Have dealt with all aspect of total loss and theft across of classis of vehicles. I worked as a senior on our motorcycle team and worked closely with our underwriters to ensure the delivery of our product and fed back issues directly to class heads. I also worked on and delivered our workout change delivery system. I now work as a Broker Development Support Executive where my role is about delivering support to our Brokers and aiding @Brad Taylor in the City and the South and @Chris Cassidy in Scotland, Northern Ireland and North of England. I now put my insurance expertise into helping our brokers and finding creative solutions to any issues that might occur and make sure they have the tools they need to successfully trade with @ERS.
