About Gerald Hurley

I have a wide range of experience in key aspects of managing a business efficiently. At a young age I was responsible for running the family business in Ireland. This was followed by a period of managing the interests of a large Middle East organisation in London which included acquiring developing and managing its property portfolio there. Having worked in the property market for over 30 years I have considerable experience in every aspect of the market – from negotiating site acquisitions, design and planning to construction, marketing, sales, completion and management. During my time with McInerney, I held a number of senior executive positions, these included spearheading the companies development in the Middle East. I also developed a reputation for innovation in my approach to marketing, demanding fresh ideas from innovative creatives in such areas as public relations and graphic design in order to differentiate our product, enhance the McInerney brand in the marketplace. I was also innovative in the sales process, working closely with many of the main property agents, tailoring offers, incentives and the like to ensure timely closings to meet reporting imperatives. In a private capacity, I jointly developed and managed a number of commercial and leisure properties in Waterford. When Mcinerney finally ceased trading in 2011, I researched, developed and patented a of a cost-efficient technique for the construction of reinforced concrete walls and in early 2013 I established the business in Brazil. Since returning to Ireland in 2015 I have been involved in consultancy. In 2017 I was appointed CEO of Waterford Chamber of Commerce
