I am a functional Business Analyst. I enjoy digging through the data using my analytical skill to figure out what makes a process tick. This discovery and learning activity is what keeps me engaged in what I do. Whether it is professionally or personally. Once I understand a process I can endeavor to optimize it. I have learned from my programming experience that a bit of experimentation is required, including problem solving and critical thinking. It also takes a lot of collaboration. I believe that creativity and innovation are collaborative activities. It is rewarding to work with very talented people to arrive at a solution not one of us would though of individually. Communicating the change in any process can be challenging. Some people need to know 'how to build the watch' and others just need to 'know the time'. Being able to tailor the message to the audience is critical. Using the correct media to convey it goes hand in hand. My tenure has given me the communication skills to craft the message appropriately. I work diligently with the people who will implement the process. Because the process can only be as good and the people using it. In this mentoring role, I can help them understand and make the process their own. Helping them understand the "why" behind the change is as important as the change itself.
