About Gerald Michaels

I’m interested in researching capital markets, critically analyzing equities and investment opportunities within markets, and continuing to enhance my understand of markets and investment strategies. At First American Bank, I assist with client-facing tasks as well as back-office tasks regarding the services we provide; including but not limited to portfolio management, investment planning, and retirement planning. I frequently research the model portfolio allocations we offer as well as the general market. I use data from several resources to do so and the end goal is to have a well-versed knowledge to ensure I can handle any client inquiries. It also allows me to understand our strategy and the basis of our portfolio structures. I work with advisors to develop a financial plan for clients to help them allocate capital and prepare for retirement. In addition, I collaborate with other associates and colleagues on a variety of issues directly with clients to ensure that they get the best experience possible. During my data analyst apprenticeship, I analyzed company financials and therein P&L, and trends within each; my colleagues and I were able to point out strengths and weaknesses and tailor ideas to improve efficiency in operations. This is where my interest in trends and financial statement analysis began. I have a passion to learn as much as I can. I spend the vast majority of my time reading investment theses, researching equities, and developing theses of my own; I want to have as broad a knowledge in the area as possible. Discovering attractive companies and equity investments is something I spend significant time doing. I am intrigued by developing, adapting, and implementing investment strategies because what I have learned so far just scratches the surface, and it has motivated me to try to expand my knowledge as much as I can in the subject. I have sharpened my ability to analyze capital markets and investments and have formed a foundation of information through my experience thus far. Further, I have been able to apply my business analytics experience in combination with research to model the data and information I discover. The combination of my passion for analysis and my ability to understand capital markets has proven to be a valuable skill set that I am constantly improving. By applying my financial knowledge, passion for learning, and critical thinking ability, I am confident in my ability to provide clients, colleagues, and co-workers with tangible results in an efficient manner.
