Massage Therapy Massage is an age old therapy that has found its place in our modern day society I have been a practicing therapist for many years now and have had the pleasure to have treated such a vast and varied amount of people from the rich and famous to the new born. Massage can be used to assist and alleviate many medical conditions. Increasing amounts of research and studies are showing that massage can assist with the healing processes following injury or surgery. Athletes are being treated with massage to improve performance and the federation of holistic therapists of which I am a member, treated the Olympic athletes in London. Whilst massage has such positive effects on the physical body, it also promotes relaxed state of mental well being and has found its place within psychiatry. I have had the honor of doing research within the NHS treating in-patients with an acute mental health diagnosis, monitoring before and after treatments with profound results. Our mental health does have a large part to play on our physical health and our mind and body should be treated as a whole and this is why I see myself as a holistic therapist.
