About Gerard Hamilton

Designing beautiful, sustainable and energy efficient buildings is what I do. My team and I design all aspects of mechanical building services, including HVAC, plumbing, other wet services and fire. So how did this happen: I finished my Mechanical Engineering degree in South Africa in 2007 and moved to the UK in Jan 2008 to gain international experience in engineering, returning to South Africa in 2014 to continue my career. In South Africa, I joined GIBB Pty LTD, a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, in 2105 to work as a building services engineer. I have and do currently manage projects internally to GIBB utilising myself and my team to complete designs in all mechanical building services disciplines. We do dabble in electrical designs to ensure that we maintain a broad knowledge of all aspects of building services design, which I feel is crucial in ensuring a well rounded, considered and robust design. In the UK, where I started my career at Max Fordham LLP in 2008, I developed a broad and general knowledge of building service engineering including both mechanical and electrical design that allowed me over 6.5 years at MFLLP to move from Design Engineer to Project Engineering and Management. I was made Partner at Max Fordham in 2012 which exposed me the management of the firm and allowed me to develop an understanding in how to balance income vs output.
