About Gerd Brunner
Passion: As a Principal Investigator I am passionate about science and using my skills to work in the field of cardiovascular disease, which remains the #1 killer in the United States and in most developed nations. Activities: Large data drive decisions in today's world, including biomedical sciences. My training in pattern recognition, image analysis, and physics serves as the foundation of my Data Science and Imaging expertise. My laboratory develops novel imaging protocols and data science algorithms to study cardiovascular disease with a focus on peripheral artery disease (PAD) and atherosclerosis. Vision Multi-Modality Data To Study Cardiovascular Disease: To improve cardiovascular disease risk assessment through intelligent acquisition, analysis, and integration of multi-modality data. Funding and Support: The Cardiovascular Imaging Research and Data Sciences Laboratory has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH; current: R01HL137763, K25HL121149; PI for both: Brunner), American Heart Association (AHA), Caroline Wiess Law Foundation, and Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF).
