About Geromic George

Geromic George is a career civil servant with an academic background in economics and public policy, currently serving in the Government of Kerala, India, as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer since 2015. He is also a Chevening Scholar who won the Julia Black prize for the best performing Master of Public Policy graduate at LSE. Over the course of his career, he has worked across a wide spectrum of departments, ranging from major infrastructure sectors such as Ports to regulatory bodies like Land Revenue within the state. He is currently working as Principal Director Local Self Government Department.His field assignments began with a one-year training stint as Assistant Collector in Kannur district, where he supported the District Collector in implementing various IT projects aimed at enhancing e-governance. He subsequently served for two years as Sub Collector of Ottapalam, performing the functions of a Sub Divisional Magistrate and holding additional charge as the Nodal Officer for Attappady, a tribal and economically backward block in Palakkad district. His work in Attappady focused on tribal land rights and holistic social development.Geromic later became the District Collector of Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital, and was one of the youngest officers to have held the post. During his two-year tenure, he spearheaded the timely completion of critical land acquisition projects, facilitated the distribution of land titles to the landless, and launched a range of women and child development initiatives, particularly in tribal and coastal regions. In recognition of his work, he received the Best District Collector Award twice, as well as the Best District Electoral Officer Award for his exemplary conduct of elections.In leadership roles at the departmental level, Geromic has served as Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, CEO of the Kerala Maritime Board, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Director of the Kerala Youth Leadership Academy, Founding Managing Director of the Sports Kerala Foundation, Secretary of the State Land Board, Joint Commissioner in the Land Revenue Department, and Director of the Backward Classes Development Department. In each of these roles, he has been responsible for the design and implementation of key schemes and policies aimed at sectoral development.He is known for his strong leadership, task-oriented approach, and commitment to public service. His core competencies lie in evidence-based policymaking, public finance and project management.
