About Gerrit Burger

As a young boy, I always loved computers and like any, this was mainly because of video games. It was this love of video games that led me to pursue software development. My love for video games would sooner or later fade, but my love for developing software has only been growing. I remember in high school (grade 9), Minecraft was really popular at the time and I loved playing Minecraft, however, at some point I started playing around with the Bukkit API (which works with Java) to create server plugins, even at one point owning my own server and making plugins for it. I have dabbled in coding before then, doing some tutorials for Java, but it was this that really made me want to code more and more. Soon after I started playing around with basic web development as I felt this was a great way of expressing my imagination and every time I would finish a small project I would only want more. This passion drove me to study Computer Science at Stellenbosch University. I learned new languages, what it meant to work with other talented developers and the reward of hard work. There were many projects and I only got more hungry for growth with every finished project. It also taught me that there will always be more to learn and this made me very excited. I am excited to enter the industry and my passion only grows stronger by the day. Most interested in: Fullstack development
